new kind of party

it never ceases to amaze me what women will do for a deal or for what they perceive to be a deal. i remember once bringing my friend into bergdof just so we could be appaled at the price of it all and finding a group of women like hyenas tearing through a pile of defenseless minolo blahniks like they hadn't had crippling high heels in months. this was just after christmas and at a new years eve party the following week another friend of mine was bragging how she's scored on her minolos at the very same "sale" i witnessed, three pairs for several hundred dollars. to me it wasn't a deal. i've got no need for strappy sandals. jeans on the other hand...

women in the suburbs have tupperware parties, or atleast when i was younger they did, now they have pampered chef parties, which is the same thing except without all the square egg molds. someone told me they'd gone to a candle party once; i really can't imagine the need. my friend held a designer jean party tonight. i guess that's what they do in manhattan. it was at a bar. ladies night of course. $60-$80 a pair. all name brand. and i was all over it. when we arrived i was initially a bit overwhelmed. it was like the entire barney's annex sale was happening on one 6 foot table. i had to have a beer. after my second, i was in the thick of it. i tried on atleast 20 pairs of jeans and complained all the while about the senseless sizing. "these are 30's and they're tighter than the 28's i tried which are the same style but a different wash." in the end i got a pair of sevens, a pair of rock and republics, and a pair of true religions for $200 total. who's bragging now?

Yesterday must have been Denim Day. Toni & I scored at a sample sale in the West Village. Let's not discuss the cost...
